La iglesa del siglo XXI

Bienvenidos a la iglesia católica del siglo XXI. Así es, ni más ni menos. Un blog hace un interesante análisis:

"What the Catholic Church is doing - as it has done since the days when Popes were married and fathered children; went to war to slaughter their enemies and pillage their newly-won territories; and, even ate shellfish - amounts to the swinging of the thurible during High Mass. It's a smokescreen - a diversion - for the very real problems facing the church and society in the 21st Century. In Boston, the Archdiocese settled with sexual abuse victims - for $85 million; in Los Angeles, victims settlements account for half of the Diocese's $13.4 million budget deficit; nationwide, the sex scandal could end up costing the Catholic Church $1 billion....

As this systematic church plot to subvert justice came to light, confidence in the church by the faithful plummeted, and other pressing matters facing the church received scant attention or were ignored completely. And, in the midst of all of this, Pope John Paul II died and was succeeded by a viralently anti-gay, Hitler youth that has made church-sanctioned oppression of gays and lesbians a top priority for his papacy. It's no wonder, therefore, that we are revisiting the Salem, Massachusetts of the 1600's in 2005 or that, given the fundamentalist beliefs of both Pope Benedict XVI and King George II, the pope's tactics bear a striking resemblance to those of the Resident of the United States."
