Interesante ver como la religión en Estados Unidos también se puede usar para fines progresistas, que de hecho es una antigua tendencia (recordemos los Quakers) pero se había olvidado. Este es el texto que recitan en este vídeo contra la Propuesta número 8 que será votada el día de las elecciones en California, y que busca denegar los actuales derechos de igualdad de matrimonio para todo tipo de parejas en el estado, sin importar su orientación sexual. Creo que la Prop8 caerá, por poco, pero no ganará debido al apoyo de muchas empresas a que así sea. El texto es de la primera Carta de Pablo a los Corintios:
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; If I have all faith tha could move mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.
And if I give all my posesions to the poor, and surrender my body to the flames but do not have not love, again nothing.
Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or selfish or argumentative; love is not arrogant or rude. Love holds no prejudice. Love is not delighted in injustice but rejoices in the truth.
Love bares all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.
If there are gifts of prophecies, they will cease; if there are tongues, they will still; if there is knowledge, it will pass away...
When I was a child, I spoke like child, thought like a child, reasoned like a child: but now I am no longer a child and it is time to put away childlish things.
And so, this three will remain: faith, hope, and love.
And the greatest of these is love.
